Fontaines D.C. are officially back, and this time they are chasing something entirely new. Dopamine Chamber, the Irish post punk band's fifth album, arrives via XL Recordings, led by the single "Marianne."
Produced by James Ford, who also helmed the band's previous album Romance, Dopamine Chamber trades traditional guitars for atmospheric drums, brooding synths, samples, and marching percussion, leaning into 1960s Italian pop strings for a sound unlike anything in their catalogue so far. Lyrically, the record confronts the endless scroll of modern life, taking in the rise of AI, celebrity gossip, political violence, and the existential weight of climate change, along with the memes they all inevitably spawn.
